Multiplayer LAN?

I have been thinking a lot about this game lately, and I really like the direction that it is going. I was thinking that it would be fun to be able to play with close friends in a Local Area Network setting. It could be in a sort of Freeplay mode, with a polygynous colony of an existing species, or even a new species. I know Formica Fusca can be polygynous sometimes... It could be a cool idea. I don't know.

The devs have talked about this before. As it stands right now to my knowledge, they do not plan on implementing multiplayer until after the game is finished. Enemy A.I. is going to be a thing in the next update though!

If things are going well upon release we would like to perhaps add some form of multiplayer - but it definitely won't be until the game is at 1.0, and of course not guaranteed.
