[Question] Is underground cursor light bending the tiles near it?

I don't know if I'm high on honeydew or if I am seeing what I think I am seeing:

I think I saw the terrain bending near the cursor light source?
(Now that I have seen it, I cannot unsee it)

I think the bending is to create an effect that makes you think there is shadows, as the tiles are flat surfaces?

It's an optical illusion caused by normal mapping of the textured surface. Normal mapping is a technique to get some 3D-like shadowing and lighting out of simple geometry (like the flat surface of a EotU tile).
