The harvestman (also known as the daddy longlegs) is an opportunistic feeder in the arachnid family. This one, native to the rainforests of South America, is sometimes known as the "Jason's mask harvestman" due to the distinctive pigmentation on its back. Although superficially resembling one, it is not a spider - it cannot spin silk and has no separate thorax and abdomen.

It might have an optimistic nibble at a trail of leafcutter ants - but though its legs might serve to keep the body away from most harm, the legs themselves are relatively brittle. A speedy escape is needed when the ants gain the upper hand.
