It'll soon be time to get Screenshot Saturday back up and rolling again properly with new artwork and screenshots from upcoming content for Empires of the Undergrowth, but for this week, here's a little look behind the scenes of some of the optimisation work we've been doing.

We're undergoing a large overhaul of creature movement and collision code, and part of this is optimisation to the pathfinding - the code that finds the most efficient path between a creature's position and where it wants to go. In this example he's been working on, Liam demonstrates the significant increase in speed that the new jump point search pathfinding algorithm has over the more standard A* one on a hex-based tile system like the one EotU uses.

This is definitely a more technical Screenshot Saturday but hopefully it demonstrates that we've been very busy with the game's inner workings recently!
