Why not add weaver ants! You could start with a large green coloured area connected to the outside. To make more space you have to go outside and build more space next to the nest. You could make an animation of weaving. There can be treetop insects and mealbugs, which are like aphids. You could also add a way too make"living bridges" to cross leaves. You would also have to make a treetop map, and you could have multiple nests.
