So i was booting the game up from steam and then it asked: Play eotu with directx11 or Play eotu with directx12, so what are there 2 things for and what is the difference between them?

Sounds like a Multicore or RAM Setting.

It's a graphics rendering API by Microsoft. One is more recent than the other and has more features. Not all systems will support DX12 but DX11 might be more stable.

Another option is Vulkan, which can be forced by adding -vulkan to launch options. That is generally better for Linux users.
