So here's another useless post about a challenge I've been working on for the past few days. Of course it doesn't involve killing the queen because I'm too lazy to do that and it probably helps no one to complete the level for the first time, so I will win purely by collecting leaves. How many leaves do you think we can win by? Maybe two, or three thousand? Nope. WE OUTHARVEST THEM BY 5,353 LEAVES. Yep, I've gone insane.
- Dig towards the entrance. As soon as your workers make a path, build three food stores to the very right and three worker tiles right next to them, then excavate the entrance immediately after. You can now wait ~25 seconds and your workers will have done everything. Upgrade one food store and send your workers outside to gather, all within 40 seconds.
- Keep gathering and switching grounds when the jumping spider appears. After two full rounds of harvesting, send your three ants back into the nest to do nest jobs. Make another worker chamber different from your three nest workers, and after five of them have hatched, excavate surrounding tiles and a refuse area to the top left. Then send this new chamber out to gather. Start making refuse tiles one by one, making sure not to refusinate any nest worker. Keep building workers and refuse.
- Exactly five minutes in, where the objective appears and the narrator announces the situation, you should have greater than 450 leaves. Yep, that's right, and before you probably thought you can get 400 max at this point. And remember this, the opponent colony must NOT harvest directly below them or at the spot to the far left. If they do, then you may still outharvest them, but it won't be nearly as fast or as great.
- After you have exactly 40 total workers, build two more nest workers. Now you can start building mediae, and you should have five of them before night falls. When night falls, you can choose to harvest either the left side leaves or the top leaves. Go wherever the bush cricket (or even two in some cases) isn't. But during the middle of the night, switch to the top leaves if you aren't harvesting them. Kill the bush cricket by drawing out its attack with workers then swarming it with mediae.
- After you've harvested all the leaves from here, move even more above that and harvest the giant saplings directly below the opponent's nest. This area is FULL of leaves, which is why you can't let it be harvested by the opponents. After you've harvested the leaves here before 16 minutes (if not, move on anyway), harvest the leaves to the left of the plateau to the top. This area holds one giant sapling and a series of small ones below it, all worth some 1400 leaves. Remember to upgrade refuse tiles to their maximum at this point.
- Next, harvest the leaves to the left of even that, it should again hold one giant sapling and a series of smaller ones. After you've done this, move to the right and harvest the lone giant sapling sitting a bit to the right of the middle of the right side part of the map. Start building majors when you have 75 mediae. Harvest the giant sapling to the top left of the sapling you just harvested. Then harvest to the left of that, which may be in the process of harvesting by the opponents. It doesn't matter if this is the case, harvest them anyway. When night begins, you should have 9700 leaves.
- After you have harvested that area, move back to the left side of the map and harvest the leaves directly southwest of the opponents, which may or may not be already harvested. It's not a problem if you run into bush crickets, your majors can deal with them. And then after you have harvested that, the enemy majors are about to activate. Make one final effort to harvest a batch of leaves from the far left, then retreat to fight the majors once they arrive to the top of the plateau directly above your nest. Now, send your group of mediae to harvest the leaves right next to your nest. They are infected with phorid flies, but it doesn't matter. Send your majors and workers to harvest to the bottom left corner, and send your mediae there too once they are done with the right side leaves. Set attack to off for the mediae so they can bring the leaves to the food stores before fighting the enemy majors, and you should win the level in under 34 minutes.
