As the title says.
A worker ant that dug out a tile would return to the queen if no other tasks present themselves. (e.g. attack, gather, egg placement, digging)
This to prevent workers from dieing by idling right next to newly uncovered enemies. (I have nest group on prevent attack and prevent gather. So my ants don't run into uncovered enemies to either attack/pick up food. Often after digging there is no new task, so my worker ants just stand there.)
Edit:
Their deaths were so avoidable if they hadn't stayed there after digging some tiles.
