In mission 3.2 nearly all harvestable leaves are to the west of the nest entrance. The minim visual is always on the left side of the leaf carried by an ant. (When looking from the ant.)
As the visual will only be visible on ants traveling toward the nest (east in 3.2) with leaves and the visual is almost always on the north side of the leaf carried, the player is very unlikely to see it.
My suggestion would be to either have a minim visual on both sides of the leaf or have it on a random side. (always visible vs variation)
